July is national blueberry month and this past weekend was the
Barrie Hill Farms Blueberry Pancake Festival. If you follow my blog, you may remember that we visited the farm last month to celebrate the Strawberry Festival. On Saturday, we woke up early in the morning so we could be one of the first to enjoy the delicious blueberry pancakes! We arrived at about 9 am. The weather could not have been any more perfect - it was warm, the sky was blue, and the sun was shining!

I asked the friendly gentlemen if I could snap a couple of photos. It was so nice talking with them! |
|
Our breakfast consisted of 3 pancakes, and 2 sausages! It was delicious! |
|
|
Now that our tummies were full, it was time to go blueberry picking! We headed out on the wagon ride that lead us into the blueberry fields...
|
We saw a large field of gorgeous gladiolus growing there too! |
|
I bought a few stems of gladiolus to take home and put in a vase! |

Blueberries for sale! |
We had a wonderful morning at Barrie Hill Farms. The pancakes were delicious, and we really enjoyed the blueberry picking. Hmmm...now what to do with all those berries? Why, a blueberry pie, of course!

Making the pastry dough |

2 pounds of blueberries |

Filled with blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, corn starch and a little bit of cinnamon! |
|
The pie is ready to go in the oven! |

|
Bubbling blueberry pie, right out of the oven. Now to cool & set for at least a few hours... |

|
The pie turned out delicious! |

It is really special when you add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. The sweetness from the ice cream really complements the tartness of the blueberries! I do hope you enjoyed reading this post. It's another beautiful day here in my neighbourhood. I hope it's a nice day where you are too! Thanks for stopping by! XO
That looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures of your visit to the farm for blueberry pancakes and picking. Your pie is so pretty and it looks scrumptious! Making me want a slice of pie. Thanks for sharing your outing to the farm.
ReplyDeleteYour girls are so lucky that you take them so many interesting places and do so many fun activities, think that is wonderful.
I think I told you Rosinda that blueberry pie was my absolute favorite as a child---this one is spectacular!!!!!!!! They truly are easy to make as far as ingredients; but it's the classy touches and love that you put into everything you do that makes it all so wonderful!!

I agree wholeheartedly with all the above comments! Looks absolutely scrumptious and I love the peek into your visit to the farm too...also I've noticed a few beautiful tweaks to your blog as well, it's looking lovely! Hugs to you sweetheart xoxo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Rosinda! I saw that Barrie Hill Farms loves your post, too! The pie looks so fabulous and what fun you all must have had first having a breakfast there and then getting to go out and pick berries!! No place like that out here : ( Keep up the great blog!! Love and hugs, Sherry xx
ReplyDeleteYou guys have such a fun life and it reminds me of my own childhood. We were always going on adventures and to amusement parks. My dad worked for a company that made pie fillings, jellies and jams (he was an exec not in any kitchen or factory) and was always bringing it home. Don't think I ever had home made pie filling till I made it myself. Yours looks as beautiful as your fun day.
ReplyDeleteMmmmm ... gorgeous! I just love your family and I love seeing all of you having so much fun together. You've stolen my heart! xoxo
ReplyDeleteMmm everything looks lovely! The pancakes, the blueberries, the pie and the gladioli :) It looks as though you all had a wonderful day out at the farm and then at home with the yummy pie, which I would love a slice of right now!
