Happy Tuesday, everyone! It's a chilly autumn day in my neighbourhood, with pops of sun, here and there. I always love it when the sun is out - it lifts my spirits and makes my day cheerier. Today's post is a picture post, so you can see some of the things I've been cooking this past week.
Easy like Sunday morning...
|
Sliced baguette dipped in milk, eggs, cinnamon, fresh nutmeg, and vanilla
Can you smell the cinnamon aroma?
"Come and get it!"
Warm french toast drizzled with maple syrup and fresh berries. Perfect way to start a Sunday morning!
Soup is a lot like a family. Each ingredient enhances the others; each batch has its own characteristics; and it needs time to simmer to reach full flavor - Marge Kennedy
This is the shrimp bisque I made last week. I'm very proud of it. This one's going in my cook book!
I also made this rosemary top sirloin roast, with new potatoes, sweet potatoes, and mushrooms. |
Here it is on a plate, with gravy made from pan drippings.
These are some of the things cooking over here at our house. What about you? How has the Autumn season affected your cooking? The cool, blustery weather has been perfect for soup-making, casseroles, and hot and bubbly things, hasn't it? I love Fall and everything that comes with it!
Rosinda,
ReplyDeleteWell done...Well said...As always!!! Keep up the good work. I'm so proud of you. Luv ya. XOXOX
Beautiful Rosinda! Can smell it all from here...and I love the soup quote too (why didn't I think of saying that??)Today has been torrentially rainy but with those 'pops' of sunshine you were talking about. Last night for Paul's first supper home after his trip I made Pot Roasted Chicken in cider with brussels sprouts & baked potatoes. I'm using lots more mushrooms, apples, sweet potatoes, squashes...all the autumny ingredients. I'll move on when it gets really wintery, but I love this October produce so much! lovely post as always, sweetie xoxo
ReplyDeleteDoesn't all that look delicious. I particularly appreciate how you fed me breakfast first, then the soup course, then the main. But where's my dessert! I'd like to see the recipe for the shrimp bisque. I love that tho never make something like that because of all the cream. I have it in restaurants sometimes tho. YUM!
ReplyDeleteHi Rosinda....I LOVE french toast---well, I USED to love it----now, I haven't found a GF bread I love enough to make it---but I'll be making it for the family, especially over the holidays....what gorgeous meals you've prepared.....and the shrimp bisque looks so silky smooth.....OK, I'm on the list for a cookbook!!

It all looks delicious! I'm like Joann -- love French toast but not eating it much anymore. I'll enjoy it vicariously through you :-) I've been using more root vegetables lately and I made a nice roast beef this week. Today I'm going to experiment with some turnips and rutabagas. It's fun to change foods with the seasons. I'm looking forward to your cookbook with the shrimp bisque recipe! xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh, yummy dishes!! You have been a busy gal, Rosinda!! I have missed being here and need so to catch up on all I have missed. What a fall bounty of lovely dishes!! Add my name to the list for a cookbook, sweetie! I adore French toast and love all those root veggies this time of year. I even make a pumpkin stew and serve it in the hollowed out pumpkin shell. I am so looking forward to reading up in your blog!!! Love and hugs, Sherry xxxx
