Farewell Fall, Hello Winter!

Hello friends!  Happy November!  I've missed you!   It's bitterly cold here today.  The wind gusts are fierce; blowing snow around and causing it to look and feel more like winter than autumn!

Indeed, fall is a fleeting season.  Its duration brief and short-lived.  The calendar claims fall will be here for at least another month, but one peek outside my window will tell you that the season is far behind us now.

Our first substantial snowfall arrived this past Friday.  Outside, everything was covered in white - the cars, streets, rooftops, lawns and trees.

Farewell October!

Goodbye pretty pumpkins...

Cheerio, glorious foliage...

So long, late blooming roses!

Welcome November....

Hello, bare branches and trees...

Hi-ya, Mr. Snowman...

Greetings snow-covered crabapples!

The seasons change just as they always have and always will.  Fall has turned to winter.  It's snowing fast and heavy outside.  We are expecting 20 cm of snow overnight!  The fire in our wood burning stove is keeping us warm on this stormy "winter" eve.  It just might be a snow day tomorrow!   I hope that no matter you are, you are smiling and you are warm and cozy!

Goodnight!

"November comes and November goes,
with the last red berries and the first white snows.

With night coming early, and dawn coming late,
and ice in the bucket and frost by the gate.

The fires burn and the kettles sing,
and earth sinks to rest until next spring."

  1. What a lovely post as always, Rosinda. We do not have snow, but it is quite cold for us at this time of year. With the wind and cold, we must resort to taking our morning walks at the mall. Though not as pretty, we try to get in two miles a day. Everything looks so warm and cozy in your home! Your daughter's snowman is adorable. Enjoy this time of the year! xo ♥

    1. Thank you, Martha Ellen! Yesterday was a snow day for the students here. Kids are back-to-school today, but it is sooo cold! I'm glad you're still able to take your morning walks. Now you can walk and browse the Christmas display windows simultaneously! :)

  4. I did a comment but it disappeared. Blogs never work for me. I said: How wonderful to see the changing seasons via your post. I loved seeing all the autumn leaves again. I can't believe how big Annabel has grown. She'll be a teen any minute! Sorry that global warming is freezing you so soon. ♥

  5. Beautiful photographs, with particular kudos to the crabapples in snow. We, too, had an abrupt change of Seasons. For Colorado, Fall was long-lived this year and began to be spoiled. I was out-of-doors raking leaves in a flannel shirt, the warm sun keeping me very comfortable.....and then the winds came. Within two hours, the temperature had dropped 30 degrees and we had extremely cold temperatures. Even Cadie's chickens got a bit of frostbite on their combs. It was frigid, along with snow. And, that glorious Fall day of leaves which turned to Winter? Yes, we moved on that very frigid cold day.....in the snow. We are amid boxes, but we are happy to be in ONE HOUSE, even if it is filled with boxes, clutter and the snow has covered everything pretty outside. May we both be blessed with the simple joy of changing seasons...such a lovely post Rosinda!! xoxo

    1. Thank you, dear Joann! Brrr! I see that we are sharing the same type of weather. It's a chilly -6 degrees Celsius (feeling like -13 degrees with the wind chill) here this morning. Congratulations on your new home! The move is the always challenging,of course. Unpacking the sea of boxes is intimidating, I'm sure, but, you'll get there...one day at a time! I know your house will be a home soon. I look forward to seeing pictures once you've settled in. Love and hugs...xx
